What a Skinning day!!

Finally went about to skin some of my toys.

First, the DS Lite. I noticed that it is getting a bit yellowish near the buttons area. Hence, I made up my mind that im not going to play my DS Lite if I dun skin it =p I went to Funz Centre in AMK. It was where i bought my psp. The shop offers great service. Price wise not the cheapest around but its still affordable for students like me =) Basically, I already have a skin design in my mind before heading to the shop. I found the skin I had in my mind after flipping thru their album. The skin was done in about 5 mins and cost me $16. Reasonable.

Next up was my ipod. As my ipod is a third generation one, it is quite hard to find a skin specifically for it. No choice, have to go to GMask. Its a bit more expensive but at least they are able to skin my ipod. I asked for a design which is more minimalistic and simple. Found a nice design 2 mins after =p The skinning process was abit longer, took about 15 mins and cost me $38 for their standard wrap. Overall satisfied with the result.

Well school have started and the week seems to pass so quickly. Lectures are beginning to be a routine thing and doing tutorials seem to occupy most of my evening =(

Anyway, as if things aren't bad enuff, I have been recalled!!!! For the next 3.5 weeks i have to report back for deployment during the big event in Singapore. This means dat I will miss all the tutorials (btw tutorials starts next week, well done...) and lectures, possibly the lab sessions as well. Please tell me how am i goin to cope with the mid term tests when i dun attend a single lecture or tutorial for the next 3.5 weeks.

~ 太美丽 ~ 陶喆 back to his best!!!

I got hold of David Tao's latest album this past weekend. After listening to the album, only one word describes it---Fantastic!!! Frankly I was disappointed with his previous album 太平盛世. IMO, it was terribly mediocre by 陶喆's standard. Back to the present day, 陶喆 shone once again with this new album. As per all previous album, 陶喆 reproduced a oldie chinese song. This time round it is 忘不了. Im abit surprised that he actually put it as his 主打歌 cos its not really mainstream music. Overall the song was pleasant to the ear with a heavy remix of his trademark R&B.

Next his ballads are simply outstanding. For me the song of the album is 太美丽. From the lyrics, the tune to the way 陶喆 sang the song, its simply a deft combination. Enough said. Other ballads like "追", "那一瞬間" and "每一面都美" are also music to the ear =)

Perhaps the only bad point i can find is how the song "今天你要嫁給我" was belted out. It is a bit corny imo. Especially the part where it goes 'Jolin in the house, DT in the house'. When I heard it i was like WTH is this. Also i feel 陶喆 did not bring out the best of the fantastic voice Jolin 蔡依凌 has. Perhaps a R&B or ballad duet would be more appropriate.

Nevertheless, this is definitely one of the best albums this year!! (another one would be Tanya's compilation album and perhaps Jay's upcoming one). For those who have not got the album yet, WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR!!!! (there's even a can as free gift lolz......)

My Lappy

Juz got my laptop during the NUS matric fair 2 weeks back. Its the Lenovo T60.

Basically I was comtemplating between T60 and Lifebook S7110. In fact i was tilted towards S7110 intially. Firstly, the S7110 looks good (compared to the plain looking T60) and they gave a free upgrade to T2400 (dat is the new Intel Core Duo processor for those less tech inclined =p). However, on matric day, i went to the thinkpad booth and all the beauty of the t60 started to ooze out bit by bit. The first thing the sales person did when we got hold of a t60 was to drop it infront of me. The impressive thing is dat the notebook has a shcok detecting software which stops the hard disk if it detects any movement. Wow its impressive. Then i saw the quality build beneath the dull looking machine. Its roll-cage looks good. The deciding factor came when I realized that S7110 uses a glossy screen compared to the matt one on t60. Hence, the Thinkpad T60 is now sitting comfortably on my table =)

My toys!!

Ok haven been really posting tech stuffs =p so here it is....my tech toys =)

PSP

I got my psp during the first quarter of this year. Initially I wasn't interested in it at all as i dun tink much of handheld machines. I changed my mind when sony came out with firmware 2.01 for the psp. Basically the psp can now go online with a bulit-in browser, play podcasts, support wallpaper, play mp3 etc etc...With the new firmware, it became a fantastic machine and i juz hav to get it. I got the asian value pack, bought a pouch, memory stick and some games. The whole package cost me more than S$600.

DS Lite

To continue my obession with handheld gaming machines, i got the DS Lite a month back. To be honest i was not particularly impressed with the original DS 'phat' because it looks fugly. When DS lite was launched in June, i told myself i muz get it lolz...At that time, my psp was more like media companion on the go, i wasn't really gaming on it. Hence, i decided to buy the ds lite purely because its a gaming machine.

It set me back by about S$400. The gaming experience on ds lite is simply fantastic. Nintendo produces games which looks simply and uses 2d graphics most of the time, but when it comes to gameplay, it simply is th ebest. When I started playing New Super Mario, I could not stop playing. (Few games have this effect on me---only FF, Metal Gear and Winning Eleven series on PS2, Initial D on PSP). To those who are still considering, juz go get it, you wun regret lolz.....

Start of School!!!

Haven been posting for quite some time haha =p
Anyway school's goin to start soon (14 August to be exact). These past few weeks have been eventful......

Firstly I got a place in Raffles Hall and checked in to join their orientation. However, after a few days and some thoughts I have decided to withdraw from hall life =p (as my dad said itchy backside) and I paid around $155 for my stay.

Matriculation fair was next and I bought the t60 (which im using to type this entry now) and signed up for a few cca welcome tea and a DBS debit card (even though I already got a POSB one =p)

Then I joined the o-week program by Engin. It was FUN with lots of interesting activities :)

But one irritating thing about uni is module bidding. I haven really ot the hang of it yet....

okay dats all for now =)
